ACCESS ALERT: The physical structure is closed to walkers. HOWEVER, boaters are finding massive Sheepshead around the bridge pilings and flats which have seen zero fishing pressure.

Local Pro Tip

Winter/Spring is Sheepshead season. While you can't walk the pier, boaters can target the concrete pilings. Use a small #1 hook with a fiddler crab or sand flea. Drop it vertically against the piling—do not cast out. Shore anglers should pivot to Bird Key Park.

Structure is closed to walkers. Fish the pilings by boat.

About Tony Saprito Pier (Closed) & Bridge Fishing Guide

Tony Saprito Pier is Sarasota's most iconic landmark and its only 'covered' fishing spot. While the pier deck is currently closed for repairs, it remains the primary reference point for boaters fishing the Ringling Bridge fenders and pilings. The bridge overhead provides permanent shade and shelter from sudden summer rainstorms.
